Nada Youssef: Powered by Persistence, Fueled by Fullerton College Student Success Profile
Nada Youssef isn’t just building a career in the electrical engineering field; she’s building it on a foundation of grit, persistence, and practical training gained through her time at Fullerton College.
Originally from Egypt, Nada moved to the U.S. with big dreams and a desire to work in healthcare. But as she navigated work and life realities, she discovered a deeper passion: architecture and design. That clarity led her to pursue an Associate Degree in Architectural Engineering at Fullerton College, a path she followed for nearly eight years while working full-time and commuting long distances.
“I never gave up,” Nada said. “There were times when it would have been easier to stop, but I stayed consistent and focused on my goal.”
Throughout her time at Fullerton College, Nada found more than just technical knowledge. She found professors who went above and beyond to support her journey. “They encouraged me and truly cared. That made all the difference,” she said.
Her courses weren’t just theoretical; they were hands-on, applicable, and tailored to the real world. She learned how to read CAD drawings, communicate effectively with construction field teams, and understand the technical language of engineers. These skills now serve her daily in her role as an intern and soon-to-be full-time employee at Fisk Electric, where she works on major infrastructure projects, such as train control systems at Union Station in Los Angeles.
While she found her internship independently, not through Fullerton’s network, Nada credits her program with preparing her to step confidently into the job. “The construction classes helped me build the knowledge I needed, and my professors encouraged me to persist despite some of life’s challenges,” she said.
When asked what made her stand out as a job candidate, Nada doesn’t hesitate: “Passion and consistency.”
She encourages other students in the program to stay proactive and push through the hard parts. “There will always be struggles,” she said. “But giving up is easy. What matters is staying consistent. That outlasts any temporary feeling of doubt.”
Now, as she prepares to graduate with her associate degree in December 2025 finally, Nada is proof that career education doesn’t have to follow a straight path to be meaningful. For employers looking to hire work-ready professionals with persistence, skills, and real-world training, Nada’s story is one to remember.
